School Lunch Information:

Our culinary development team is composed of professional chefs and nutrition experts who are passionate advocates of healthy eating and happy children.  We believe that it is never too early to instill good eating habits in our kids, and school lunch is just the place to start.

We focus on whole grains, seasonal fruits, vegetables and proper balance.  We cook traditional and ethnic meals using better quality, better tasting, and better for you ingredients.  We believe in using organic, non-processed, farm to table, nutrient dense foods. No hard to pronounce chemicals or chemical dyes are used.

We understand that for many children, their school lunch will be the most important meal of their day.  Children depend on their warm school lunch for 1/3 to 1/2 of their nutritional intake.  Menus are designed with the child’s physical activity level in mind.  High-energy meals are provided on those days.  Healthy diets help children grow, develop, and do well in school.

The National School Lunch Act mandates that school meals are consistent with the applicable recommendations of the most recent Dietary Guidelines for Americans including:  eat a variety of foods; choose a diet with plenty of grain products, vegetables and fruits; choose a diet moderate in sugars and salt; and choose a diet with 30% or less of calories from fat and less than 10% of calories from saturated fat.  In addition, lunches must provide, on average over each school week, at least 1/3 of the daily Recommended Dietary Allowances for protein, iron, calcium, and vitamins A and C.

Under the Traditional Food-Based Menu, five food items from four food components are:  meat/meat alternative, vegetables and/or fruits, grains/breads, and dairy.  Ages and grade groups establish minimum portion sizes.  We are committed to providing these needs and well beyond.

We believe that exposing children to various types of food at an early age is important.  It can take 10 to 15 food exposures for a child to actually like and develop a taste for a food.  Early taste experiences will help alter their taste perceptions as they grow.

Culinary Kids Summer Camp

Culinary Kid’s fun, hands-on, and sophisticated recipes are designed for young foodies, curious cooks, and kitchen newcomers, while emphasizing a holistic approach to the kitchen. Young chefs expand their palates, reinforce academic and social skills, and learn about food safety, knife skills, and experimenting with flavors and ingredients.

Children learn best and retain the most information when they engage their senses. We’re going to be sifting, whisking, kneading, rolling, chopping, mixing and measuring as we make savory and sweet creations from scratch.

Providing children with positive, fun experiences with food increases the likelihood they will try and enjoy those foods. In class, students will work together to prepare dishes such as meatballs with marinara sauce, vegetarian sushi rolls, pizza from scratch, pasta from scratch, quiche, salad dressing, stir fry, mashed potatoes, fun with vegetables and herbs, empanadas, fruit tarts, cake decorating, flakey pie crusts, sourdough bread and so much more!

Our camp is packed with culinary excitement, fun and tasty adventures!
Campers will get the opportunity for physical exercise and will enjoy snack breaks as well as a lunch break filled with games.
NOTE: All food items will be prepared with organic and all natural ingredients. No artificial dyes, high fructose corn syrup, nuts, soy, or chemicals will be utilized.

Art For Fun Summer Camp

Have fun and be creative! Our camp focuses on the many different ways to create - beyond paintbrush, canvas or pencil - including sculpture, paper-mâché, ceramics (making cups, and plates then painting them), batik, mosaics, silk dyeing, mixed media, sun printing and fabric art.
Creating art with textured items offers a good opportunity to increase spatial skills, eye and hand coordination as well as enhancing decision making opportunities. This multi-sensory art program is designed to stimulate and integrate the senses. Creativity is a way of life!
Campers will get the opportunity for physical exercise and will enjoy snack breaks as well as a lunch break filled with games.
